When I was approved for a review of one of my favorite restaurants, I was ecstatic. Firehouse Subs is not your typical sub place. The process of steaming their meats & cheeses (to preserve the flavor) has proven to be a success that keeps their customers coming back for more. Speaking from personal experience- my entire family is addicted to this place!
Upon arrival, our orders were taken. My mom & I both ordered the Hook & Ladder combo. The kids shared a grilled cheese kids meal. Which also came with a nifty little fire hat for each kiddo. Another thing that I find unique about the Firehouse Subs experience is the fact that they were the first restaurant to introduce a drink selection of 120+ flavors. I mean, I could go in there a little over twice a week & never drink the same thing! Awesome, right?!
While we ate, I was able to talk a bit with franchisee Justin. During our chat, I mentioned how the restaurant that I had first visited (that happened to be the closest to my home) had closed before my family had moved back to N. Carolina. You can imagine my excitement when he told me that a franchisee was in the process of opening up a new location... only about 15 minutes from my house!!
A little about Firehouse Subs:
Started by brothers Chris & Robin Sorensen, Firehouse Subs carries a large family based value. Add in the fire & police service influence & you have a successful company that is dedicated to community as well. Their non-profit foundation, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a great example of this dedication. The goal being to "ensure that we are able to
impact local fire departments, law enforcement and EMS and public
safety organizations with the tools, technology and training they need."
When walking into a Firehouse restaurant, you'll be greeted by friendly faces & local firehouse decor. This is a way to become even closer to the local community. Each franchise location has a mural displayed on their wall. It was pointed out to me that most owners add personal details to their mural. For example, the Concord Mills location features personal touches from franchisee Justin. Looking at the painting, you'll see his two older kids in front of the local fire department. Also, there is a race car in the painting to represent the racing connection to Concord, NC. I really wish I would have taken a photo to share with y'all.
Are you planning a get together but have no time to cook? Still want to serve wonderful food to your guests without having to slave over a hot stove? Well, good news! Firehouse Subs caters as well. Add a special twist to your summer get together by sharing a sub platter with your guests. With numerous options available, you're sure to find exactly what you're craving.
My personal experience dining at Firehouse Subs was wonderful, as usual. My mom had only eaten there once before (a while back) & she was pleasantly surprised as well. The service & food were both professional, yet super friendly. I'm glad that I was able to sit down & learn a little more about this company that I have fallen in love with over the last couple years. And as a parting gift, the employees of the Concord Mills location gave me this wonderful basket full of goodies... Isn't it pretty?
